Liam Payne shocked fans when he wore a drastically different look on Thursday.
The One Direction star, 29, was supporting former bandmate Louis Tomlinson at the premiere of his new movie All Of That Voices when he surprised with his red carpet appearance.
Fans flocked to Twitter to wonder what happened, with many asking if he had buccal fat removal.
The fast-growing trend among celebrities and social media personalities is cutting fat pads out of the inside of a person’s cheek, giving them a more angular face.
Shocked fans wrote: ‘Liam Payne had a full face job, respect it’; ‘Liam Payne removing buccal fat sends me to the real moon’; “I still can’t believe Liam Payne had buccal fat removed.”
Speaking to MailOnline, aesthetics doctor Dr Mo Hamed weighed in on what he thought Liam could have done, saying the singer looked ‘really good’.
Dr. Mo Hamed, Aesthetic Clinic Dr. Motox speculated, “He looks like he may have had some jawline filler to give him a chiseled and contoured side profile.
“This is becoming a very popular treatment in my clinic, where men are given a jawline filler to make their faces masculine.
“A wider and chiseled jawline is associated with stronger masculine features.”
MailOnline has reached out to Liam’s representatives for comment.
Speaking in 2021, Liam revealed he looked bloated after going through a “wild drink and pill phase.”
Liam, who said he struggled to stay sober during the tour, revealed: “There were a few shots of me on a boat and I was all blown up and I call it my pills-and-booze face.”
My face was 10 times bigger than it is now. The problem was that the best way to secure us was to lock us in our rooms, and what’s in the room? A minibar.
So I had a party for one that seemed to go on for years. It was wild, but the only way to get frustration out.’
Liam further revealed that during the lockdown he fell back into bad habits and became dependent on alcohol, which caused him to gain weight.
He went into detail about the impact it had on his waistline, continuing, “I gained so much weight, I ate poorly and described it as a period of bulking up – “I’m doing it for a movie role! It’s all good!”
That’s the best excuse when someone asks if you’ve gained weight. Suppose it is for a role, which comes out in 2022.
“I put a lot of weight on it. What hit me, I did one appearance on TV with the BAFTAs and I was disappointed in myself. I didn’t look the way I wanted to look.
‘You yourself know how you feel about it. Obviously they say the camera adds ten pounds and it sure did. I realized that I let myself go into this.’
After the country came out of lockdown, Liam worked hard on his physique, went back to the gym and reduced his alcohol consumption.
He’s been working hard on his solo career, but proved he hasn’t forgotten his roots when he supported Louis’s new movie.
He seemed in good spirits as he attended the premiere with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and the pair made for a perfect picture.
Despite One Direction splitting up in 2016, Liam and Louis have maintained a close friendship over the years.
While Liam admitted he wasn’t very close to Louis when he was in the band, he shared in 2022 that Louis was his “best friend now.”
But he sparked controversy while chatting with Logan Paul on his podcast, he also hinted that his solo music had outperformed his bandmates.
Louis defended his former bandmate after the podcast episode raised eyebrows, then described such interviews as “challenging.”
“All I want to say about that is… which one of those annoying Paul brothers was it? [Logan Paul] knew exactly what he was doing, the buttons he was pushing, and that’s what I got out of it,” he explained.
All Of That Voices opens in theaters worldwide on March 22, with the film’s synopsis stating that the film “provides a refreshingly raw and real look at Louis Tomlinson’s musical journey.”
Featuring never-before-seen home video footage and behind-the-scenes access, it will take a look at his post-band life.
